What Is Fast Food
Fast food is a term that refers to food that is prepared and served quickly. It was first popularized in the 1950s, mainly in the United States. Fast food restaurants are different from sit down restaurants by their ability to serve food through a drive through window.
On The Go
Fast food restaurants are take-away or take-out stops. Most of them have a drive through window which allows customers to pick up food from their cars. They also have indoor/outdoor seating which allows customers to eat on site.
Fast food is eaten on the go which means it does not usually need cutlery and can be eaten with fingers. The most common items on fast food menus are: burgers, fried chicken, pitas, sandwiches, french fries, pizza, hot dogs and fish and chips. Some restaurants even offer more sit down style meals, such as chili and mashed potatoes.
